After three years of creating and hosting wonderful holidays to the Deux Sevres region of France from Le Prieure, we are delighted to be able to bring another beautiful home into the Uniquely French fold. While Le Prieure and La Tour are almost fully booked for the coming year, Chez Recoin gives guests from near and far the chance to explore this wonderful corner of France. This new cottage represents for us the wonderful things that can happen when you follow your heart and have the courage to chase your dreams.
Chez Recoin - Our Nook - is a smaller property, perfectly formed for memorable holidays to France. Perched on the edge of the gentle valley that separates Pressigny from Les Autiers, this charming two bedroomed French villa oozes peace and calm, in a rural idyll surrounded by beautiful meadows, small vineyards and woodland. From deer and hare to graceful raptors you can watch from the terrace, nature lovers will find the area teeming with wildlife.
Surrounded by extraordinary things to do in France
For couples seeking a calm oasis for walking or cycling tours, or families keen to explore the area, this is a wonderful base. With the Loire Valley to the north, la Rochelle to the west, and Poitiers with its medieval centre to the south-east, visitors wanting to explore this delightful region of France will never be short of a historic destination to visit. From the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella that passes through Deux Sevres to the oldest silver mines at Melle to the south, stunning churches and UNESCO heritage sites, the Poiteau-Charente region of south-west France is a wonderful destination for a family holiday.
Early risers can lie in bed and watch the beautiful sunrises through the French windows in the master bedroom. In the second bedroom make a dormitory for three children in the two beds or share with a young child. The large window has wonderful views over the valley and woods. The old cobbled path leading to this lovely holiday home gives a hint to the history of this ancient house, one of the oldest in the village.
Relax and unwind in rural France
The charming garden calls you to sit in the shade under the tree, to rest and relax in the warm sun in this bucolic region of France. If you bring your favourite pooch, you can be sure he or she will have one of the best dog holidays imaginable.
The valley below this ancient French cottage is home to a herd of white Charolais cows, who wander along the small narrow paths and in summer stand knee-deep in the pond to cool themselves. They make great subjects for keen photographers, especially in the lovely evening light to be found in the Deux Sevres in summer. And, if you stay on 14th July, Bastille Day, you will have a prime viewing platform to the most stunning firework display a tiny village can deliver, from the comfort of a chair on your own terrace!
